Horsham's Alex Reed lands British GT drive in Lanan Racing Porsche

Reed rapidly ascended the Karting ranks before making a successful transition to car racing in the 2013 Fiesta Junior Championship, in which he achieved several podium finishes prior to successful outings in the Ginetta Junior Winter Series, MSV Trackday Trophy and Michelin Clio Cup Series.

However, the 17-year old graduates to the super-competitive British GT Championship from the Lotus Cup UK.

He achieved two race wins and seven podiums during a prolific 2015 season to become the championship’s youngest ever race winner and narrowly missed out on the Exige class title at the final round of his maiden season of sportscar racing.

The rising star from West Sussex will begin testing alongside his new teammate – former Le Mans racer and 2009 Australian Formula 3 Champion, Foster – after Lanan Racing takes delivery of its brand new Cayman GT4 in March, ahead of the British GT curtain-raiser at Brands Hatch on 16-17 April and he feels fully prepared for what’s to come.

"We had been looking to move into British GT and I'm delighted to be joining Lanan Racing,” said Reed. “Last year’s campaign in the Lotus was ideal preparation and showed that I can be quick at each of the circuits on this year's calendar. I'm confident that, with Joey (Foster) and Lanan Racing, we will be fighting for wins in what looks like will be a very competitive GT4 class."

Lanan Racing Team Principal, Graham Johnson, added: "With Joey and Alex together we have a really strong line-up in the first of our Caymans. We've known Joey for a long time and Alex has already shown how much potential he has. He will only improve alongside Joey and the partnership will get better and better throughout the season."
